About Us

OUR GOAL…
“Gardening is a way of showing that you believe in tomorrow…”

Greenscape Gardens has made it a mission to make St. Louis County a greener community by creating successful gardeners. The future depends on our ability to restore the Earth and help heal the damage already done.  The concept of “Grow Your World” developed from the idea that gardening is a journey and we can learn more about the world and ourselves as we follow nature’s path.  To help guide gardeners on this journey, we offer a diverse selection of plant materials to help restore the environment, encourage the use of natural fertilizers and pesticides, and make it easy to practice sustainable gardening (through the pot recycling program and demonstrations).

OUR TEAM…
After 20 years in the green industry (as owners of Greenscape Lawn & Tree Care), John and Sally Loyet opened Greenscape Gardens in 1994.  Now under the management of their daughter, Jennifer Loyet-Schamber (recipient of the 2007 Green Profit Magazine’s Young Retailer Award), the company continues to “bloom”.

OUR PLANTS…
Greenscape Gardens proudly grows over 30,000 perennials on a yearly basis.  We offer a wide selection of plants that are well-suited and acclimated for our area.  Check out our great selection of “GrowNative” and “Plants of Merit” selections.  We encourage our customers to return our perennial pots so that they can be cleaned and re-used the following season.  All other pots can be returned for recycling.  We also feature a great selection of trees that are recommended by the ISA (International Society of Arboriculture) and approved by AmerenUE, as well as a colorful array of shrubs suitable for St. Louis gardens.  Don’t miss our delightful selection of annual flowers/veggies/herbs and our delicious collection of tropical plants!

OUR GARDENS…
The 9-acre property of Greenscape Gardens is surrounded by demonstration gardens.  These gardens were developed to both inspire and educate our customers.  The Gazebo Garden features a large selection of newly introduced trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals.  The Barrett Village Train Garden features two G-scale garden trains set amongst a 19th century village and miniature plants.  The Plants of Merit Garden showcases a wide variety of plants well-suited for the lower Mid-West.  Other garden features include a fish pond, gazebos, and other surprises to be discovered.  Future garden plans include the installation of a rain garden in front of the cottage at the corner of the property (coming Summer 2008!)

OUR FUTURE…
By supporting our community, our community has supported us.  We will continue to strive to make it easy to “Grow Your World”.

Greenscape Gardens is proud to support Habitat for Humanity. In a recent project, Greenscape donated over $2500 in landscaping plants, materials and labor to a local Habitat for Humanity home.

It was a privilege to partner with KMOV 4 and Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt in this worthwhile effort. KMOV Channel 4 aired a program on June 28th about this project with Habitat for Humanity.
